How I handle your information
Your privacy matters. I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and handle all personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What information I collect
When you get in touch or begin working with me, I may collect your name, contact details, and information relevant to your care. Session notes are kept securely and confidentially.
How I use your information
Your information is used only to provide and manage your therapy. I do not share your data with third parties except where required by law, or where there is a serious risk of harm to you or others — in which case I would aim to discuss this with you first.
How long I keep your data
I retain records for seven years after our last session, in line with BACP guidelines. After this period, data is securely destroyed.
Your rights
You have the right to access the information I hold about you, to request corrections, and in some circumstances to request deletion. To exercise any of these rights, contact me directly at .

I take any concerns about my practice seriously. If you feel something hasn't been handled well, I want to hear about it. Here's how to raise a concern.
Contact me directly. In the first instance, please raise your concern with me by email at claire@cotgrovecounselling.com. I will acknowledge your concern within five working days and aim to respond fully within 28 days.
Escalate to my professional body. If you feel your concern has not been resolved satisfactorily, you can escalate to the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) — bacp.co.uk
Data concerns. If your concern relates to how I have handled your personal data, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) directly — ico.org.uk · 0303 123 1113
